ABOUT US

It’s March 2020.  We were cat-loving, empty nesters when our beloved orange tabby, Lego, unexpectedly passed away.  Never having lived without a pet, we knew that we wanted to have one in our lives.  Our love of travel, and especially camping, got us thinking… maybe we should adopt a dog?  Shortly after making that life-changing decision, we saw a precious Beagle puppy on the AARF website named “Nash”.  We were lucky enough to meet him the same day and fell in love with his adorable face and floppy ears.  He joined our family, was named “Tucker”, and immediately became the favorite child.

Over the next year, we spent our weekends and vacations camping, hiking and exploring many wonderful places around the southeast, always just the 3 of us.  One of our favorite activities after a long day on the trails was to find a brewery or tap room that was dog friendly.  On one trip, we stumbled upon an off-leash dog park that served cold beer.  A place where Tucker could run and play with new friends while we tried to make some as well.  “How great is this?!”  After visiting many more of these “dog park bars” on our travels, we knew Winston-Salem would be the perfect place for one.

We wanted to be downtown, part of the rejuvenation of this wonderful city, and searched for almost a year to find the right spot.  Luckily, we met Mr. Arbie Smith, owner of Smith Body Shop, who was ready to retire.  We will honor the Smith family with the “Paint Booth,” our private indoor/outdoor event space where Mr. Smith painted cars for over 40 years.

Our family invites your family and friends to visit us at Tucker’s Tap Yard.  Tucker, our CFO (Chief Fun Officer), who has never met a dog or human he doesn’t like, is ready to welcome everyone to a clean, safe and fun environment.  A place where “Pups Play & Friends Stay.”

Cheers,

Kim, Cole, Ryan, Ashley and, of course, Millie & Tucker
